Creative Photography WorkshopIntroductionMost photography workshops tend to emphasise the technical aspects of photography combined with 'sight-seeing' trips to places of interest. Although this approach might improve the technical quality of your pictures, it rarely actually helps you to improve the visual quality of your photographs: essential if you are to make better creative images. I believe that it is more important for you to learn the visual and perceptual skills of image-making. You can learn the technical aspects of photography from any good book (e.g. my own books!) but there is nothing better than learning directly from a gifted professional who can teach you first-hand how to improve your perceptual skills. This workshop concentrates most on developing your personal creative skills which, in turn, will give you the knowledge and confidence to help you actually make more visually stimulating and therefore more powerful images. Although we will concentrate on making you a stronger creative person, it will also be necessary to equip you with the essential technical skills necessary to capturing your creative vision. Therefore, be assured that appropriate practical skills will be covered in the workshop. Who will benefit most from this workshop ?ALL visual media artists; photographers, painters, digital image makers! It doesn't matter what your current level of knowledge is, from complete beginner to seasoned professional, this workshop will make you better! Both digital and film users are welcome. What will a workshop do for me?The simple answer to this question is: MAKE YOU A MORE CREATIVE IMAGE-MAKER! Creative image-making is not about knowing how all the bells and whistles on your camera work BUT about knowing how your perception and visual skills function. Essentially you need to know how to 'tap into' these visual skills when you are creating an image. In many visual disciplines, what many people crucially lack (and which can be very quickly corrected) is the ability to 'see' with your artists eye. Here are just some of the topics you will explore during your workshop:
Each of the topics will enable you to unlock the door to your artistic talent. The last skill, Perceiving the Whole, seems to occur naturally once the other skills are learned. Creative talent (and creative image-making) is available to everyone, all it takes is the right guidance and the opportunity to emerge. That is what this photography workshop will do for you! The Workshop - Andalucia SpainThis creative photography workshop is an intensive five day course designed to progressively provide you with the component skills needed to unlock your creative talent. The methods used in the workshop are based on the many years of research into the psychology of creativity. Every single person that has ever been taught by Les Meehan has made fantastic progress, from people with little or no photographic knowledge at all to photography professionals, everyone is able to create memorable visual images of a high standard, AND SO CAN YOU! Each day you will be introduced to the concepts concerning the necessary cognitive skills required to enhance your perception (put simply learning how the mind 'sees' artistically). These cognitive skills will be reinforced by guided practical tasks designed to unlock your own creativity. Day by day you will feel yourself changing as your inner artist begins to emerge. You will see a remarkable improvement in your daily practice images, evidence of your transformation from non-artist to artist, as the workshop progresses. Learn to think like a professional! During this workshop you will be encouraged to think more like a professional image-maker and to develop a controlled approach to creating your images. The methods you will learn will help to eliminate errors from your picture-making process to ensure a much higher success rate. Each day will end with a discussion of the days events, this is excellent for sharing your personal creative discoveries. By the end of the five days YOU WILL BE a better image-maker! |
